Enjoy the great outdoors, DEET free please!

Since my awesome friends are not just in the USA, but worldwide, I’d like to ask for all your opinions.

Based on the research on DEET, and it’s affects (on our nervous systems) would you spend more to use DEET FREE bug repellant, or just deal with the possibility of West Nile Virus from a mosquito, no seeum, or black flies and get bit?

Here’s the research http://www.panna.org/files/factsDeet.dv.html and here’s NJ’s favorite DEET Free bug spray

Please, share your comments!

Protecting your pregnant friends, naturally

Today I was reading a back issue of one of my favorite new magazines and learned a few things. Maybe old news to many, but new to me. A very dear friend of mine is pregnant with her third baby, and a very busy Mom & business owner. I think I’m the “greenest” of my friends (its lonely sometimes).

I learned that besides artifical chemicals, there are even a few natural ingredients that my pregnant gal pal should avoid including some essential oils! The April 2010 issue of Natural Solutions “Beauty for Two” by Erinn Morgan, goes into more detail…

Let my afternoon lesson serve you as ammunition to protect not just yourself, but your friends future babies too!

They tested a handful of natural skin care products and give you their opinion on them here .

I’ve never tried any of those products, but I have tried just about the entire OmAroma skincare line, and love it so much I buy their OmToGo 5 pcTravel Set for my traveling friends, and Moms on the go.

Another LOVE is the PSI band.
Psi Bands (pronounced “Sigh Bands”) are acupressure wrist bands for the relief of nausea due to morning sickness (pregnancy), motion sickness/ travel, chemotherapy, and anesthesia.

Scientific studies support the use of wrist acupressure for the relief of nausea (visit our Research link). Wrist acupressure has grown in popularity because it is noninvasive, easy to self-administer, and affordable.

Created by two Mompreneurs Carla & Romy, They say “wearing is believing, Breath a “Psi” of relief! ” I say, these are another MUST have for our pregnant friends!!

Anti-Allergen Pet Shampoo- a NJ farmers market FIND!

We have a couple wonderful farmers markets in our neighborhood during the summer that I love to frequent.
This year, I found a new vendor, “Absolute Green”. Well, Karen Halo (owner) may not be covered in pet hair, but you can tell she loves animals. She gave me quite the low down on whats important in pet shampoos, ear cleaner, and everything eco friendly for that matter. I was so relieved to find her pet products, I thought I’d share her with my readers with a review.

That wonderful time of year is here again, and our furry friends are shedding. Yuck! I think I could crochet the pet hair and make a rug!

Why do our pets shed? Some so much, and some barely at all? The experts say, that some dogs have a “double coat” the undercoat that grows deep and dense is what sheds in the Spring and Summer.

One way to help your pet (and your house) during shedding season is to use a veterinary quality NON-detergent shampoo such as this Pet Dander Removal Shampoo by Allersearch see: Allersearch Pet plus Anti Allergen & Dander Shampoo

We tried it on our Boxer ”Dutchess” (ironically, her “Dad” & “sister” are allergic to her, but I’m not). So far, so good! Her dander is down, she smells great, and everyone’s happy! Let’s see if it lives up to it’s promise to last 30 days. I’ll let you know!

If you’re in the Edison/Metuchen area on the weekends, you too can meet Karen! She’s at the Absolute Green tent at the Metuchen Farmers Market on New St , Metuchen (on Saturdays 8-2 pm til Early October), and the Edison Farmers Market Sundays from 9-2. Which is located in the Jade Dynasty Chinese Restaurant parking lot; 925 Amboy Ave.
